The Full Story
After serving as a police officer and a busy manager for over a decade, I thrived on stress, tight deadlines, and challenging situations. Despite being an avid swimmer and a qualified swimming teacher, along with enjoying walks with my dog, I started experiencing headaches, body aches, poor sleep, and anxiety. Ignoring these signs, I kept pushing myself as I felt too occupied to be unwell. Eventually, my health deteriorated, leading to necessary time off work. Feeling guilty for not maintaining my usual productivity, I returned to work prematurely, only to face more health setbacks. This cycle continued for years, causing increasing health issues and longer recovery periods.
In 2022, I was diagnosed with chronic health conditions, resulting in my retirement due to ill health from the career I cherished. The retirement process was challenging and stressful, prompting me to ponder how I neglected my well-being as a devoted public servant. Despite having strong well-being policies on paper, my workplace did not provide the supportive and healthy environment it claimed to offer. This realization led me to establish the Busy Bee Boutique. This venture aims to aid my recovery by finding a new purpose that accommodates my health limitations, sharing my experiences, advocating for self-care, and promoting overall well-being.
